They have sentenced him to die in a room. Or perhaps, be in the room until just before he gets taken to a hospital and dies there.
That's better than letting him martyr himself.
The décor and size of the room hardly seems important.
Remember Norway's government's response to this some day one was: "we are going to go civilized on your ass".
It's making them look pretty good, frankly. Seems a descent strategy for neutralising and then removing a fanatic from the rest of history.
