There's a problem with turning the filter off though. I noticed that when a swear word is quoted, the filter takes effect (most likely because the person quoting has the filter on) so if Sazari says "f**k" in one of his posts, but then someone with the filter quotes him, rather than having the pleasure of seeing the cuss word again, I have to see "whoopie", which is cringeworthy and will eventually drive down traffic.

I would guess it's because the quote function takes what is shown on your screen, the actual text you're seeing and puts it into the quote tags, rather than what was previously typed. It doesn't have the facility to unfilter words.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.
