most pro choice people i know would prefer that abortions of choice -- abortion used as birth control -- was outlawed, but they feel that it cannot be done without restricting it for other reasons (like, say, rape, which by time a person is found guilty of said rape the baby would have already been born). pro life is really the position of most people, in the end, but they have an idea about certain cases ought be allowed
for the gay marriage issue, i think it's something the republicans should back off on on a national level. DOMA might be found unconstitutional -- but not for the reason many people cite. the supreme court has long held that states do not need to substitute their own statutes for that of other states - the public policy exception. this makes sense as we are a nation of united states, not just one set of laws. even if it is found unconstitutional i do not think that it would force states into accepting other state's interpretations of "marriage". and at a state level, where it belongs, most states do not accept it.
what's funny about all of this is only 12 states do not have a single party in control of both houses plus governor. and of those that are controlled by one party, most of them are controlled by republicans. republicans also still control the house of reps.
you people are going on about how the republicans are gone and repudiated but republicans control most of the government in this country
