This has nothing to do with the side of my choosing. I would prefer that PR get statehood, pay their federal taxes and have better representation in the government.
The fact is that blank votes were part of a campaign from a party opposed to statehood, so we can play stupid and act like we have no idea why those votes were left blank, or we can use the most simplistic level of critical thinking and acknowledge that the results weren't really decisive for statehood.

Actually, it sort of was.
Once you determine that change is desired by the majority, then you must ascertain what sort of change is desired.
If those who didn't vote for change don't vote on the nature of change, their vote doesn't count.
Puerto Ricans voted for statehood. It is likely to happen sooner rather than later.
