I'm torn. While my politics are increasingly blue the North-East and Southern California are full of ass-holes. Southerners, on a personal level, are the second most quality group of people I've ever met.
My idea solution would be taking the whole North-Western quarter of the continent and forming Greater Cascadia, or naming it after a cool Indian tribe or something.

Naw. Willamette Valley. Used to be lake bottom. Some of the most fertile farmland on the planet. Can feed everyone no problem. Naturally irrigated.
