I'm no fan of either but without California and Wall Street we'd all have to learn how to lead completely different lifestyles. To the point where we'd be plenty miserable and PO'ed..

Prof's right though, we'd be pretty big commercial bros with the South and East. The perk here is that we can be commercial buddies and everyone can go their own way culturally...the North-east can go back to being British and the South can become Baptist land. We can also hold our own foreign policies. The South can build bases in Israel, the North-east can help the British, and we can focus on peace and commerce with everyone and more intimate diplomacy with Japan.
