But ya, as to handing over government property...I truly couldn't care less what they've paid or when. That all went out they window when they decided to bail on their countrymen. If they aren't willing to turn over US property, then the US should roll in and take it from them. Its our gear. Has our name printed on it, even. Hand it over.
Strategically, it makes no sense to allow a nation that may turn against us to an even larger degree to take ownership of a former US military installation. Those should be demolished immediately. You do it, or we do it, and you may not appreciate our methods. Its already an unfortunate situation that we share such a long border.
