The problem is that public schools are responsible for the children - for their whereabouts and safety, when they are supposed to be in school. It's that simple.

If the children are not there when they are supposed to be during schooltime, the school is responsible. They could have been kidnapped. They could be getting beaten on the outside of the building by another student and left in a bloody heap. With all the shootings that happen these days, this point is emphasized even more.

Don't like this? Take that responsibility away from schools. And, I don't see that happening anytime soon. The reality of things is that most parents want to know where their child is at and have the schools responsible for it as well. I, for one, have no issue with my daughter being tracked, either by myself or by the school (when she is supposed to be attending). When she becomes an adult, that is when I will argue for her "rights" and freedom from things like this.

Kids can also be homeschooled, for the record. Anyone is free to do that.

When they start tracking all citizens, that's when you really need to get worried.

So one needs regulations to keep melamine out of baby's formula. I would think that has always been against the law, except when allowed by some sleazy beaurecrat or some 'regulations'.

Those sorts of things have been around for a long time. Posioning people, regardless their age, has pretty well always been against the law.

I do see what you mean.

Fraud, too, is against the law. but the law was not enforced. There's no regulation one can pass that will protect victims when enforcement agencies refuse to enforce the law.

More regulations are not necessarily better or effective. Teams of lawyers find ways around regulations. As you alluded to earlier in regards to having to sign in every hour, there are ways around that, too.

It has to do with the law or regulation at it's most basic level, not at it's most complex or most intrusive.

If the state refuses to observe or enforce a law, the rest of what's built on that is sketchy at best.
