No, I'm just getting impatient for something that is truly new, as opposed to an evolution or expansion of something that already exists. Its been quite a while. Updating an existing device each year is not innovation. Developing something fundamentally new or at least radically better is.

Hopefully we won't be up to the iPhone 14S or the iPad 9 before something new comes along. Perhaps they can develop smart glasses that are actually practical/marketable. That might be cool.

I'm not trying to stir up the Apple Legions. I'm just pointing out that if they (and Apple itself) are going to go on and on about innovation...there really ought to be some. (It will give Sammy something to reverse engineer.)

I just don't understand why you have such an unreasonable expectation for a company. Apple has innovated more in their industry in the last decade than perhaps any other company. What were MP3 players before the iPod? Smartphones before the iPhone? Tablets before the iPad? Who had heard of apps before and who thought we would have laptops that fit in an envelope? Apple has for the past decade released a breakthrough product every 2-3 years, a product that redefines a current industry or creates a totally new one. No other company has such a stellar record of innovation in this millennium.

I mean perhaps they could do more to innovate, but you are literally calling out the most innovative company of our time and complaining they haven't released a industry creating product in a year or two.

Apple's strength is in providing usefull tech in packages easily accesible to even the most technologically incompetent. And making it look sleek. Appart from that the actual components used in their creations aren't particularly impressive or cutting edge, or even made by them. Marketing is where they won big, so much-so that random people actually praise them as innovative technological geniuses.

Innovation isn't limited to creating a new product. Taking something and making it amazing is also innovation. It takes quite a bit of skill to take the idea of the tablet PC, and turn it into something like the iPad.

Innovation is all Apple does. The fact that they haven't brought out a new "iphone" level product in a few years is only a failing of their own standard and no one elses. The fact that all HP and Samsung have done in the last 5 years is try desperately to take away some of their market share ALONE insulates them from scrutiny regarding innovation. When you are the only source of innovation, you can't be criticized for not topping yourself. They build better, they market better, and they strategize better than any company on earth.
