Philosophically, I agree 100% that people should be required to prove who they are when they vote. And, an ID is the best way that we currently have to prove this.
But, it is an action, and an expenditure of money, that is without a problem. Why should we spend millions of dollars to force people to prove who they are, when no one is lying about it in the first place?
If and when there is evidence of voter fraud, then grab these laws and pass them in special sessions of state legislatures. But, until there is a problem, we don't need a solution.
