What is and what should be are two different things.
The reality is that there probably are a lot of men out there turned off by modern women. To suggest that women should adapt to that, however, is not the right thing to say. Should they in reality? It really depends on their priorities. If they want to get married more than they want to be a "modern woman", they will certainly have a better chance. If they want to be a modern woman first and foremost, that shouldn't be seen as a problem. It comes at a cost, and that cost is a reduced pool of potential mates.
Honestly, I think the drive for many men not to marry is partly this, but partly the legal system being heavily tilted towards women currently. Everywhere I look around I see horror stories of the financial devastation of divorce and nice guys being held hostage by their former wives, through their children.
