Okay. What argument is he making then? Since I am reading the implications all wrong, and being disingenuous, perhaps you could reveal what the justification is for forcing the love of your life to stay home and take care of the kids, or you won't marry them? What logic drives such an ultimatum, and why is it justified?

I think that if a woman won't marry a guy because he refuses to be the sole provider, because that is his job as a man, that is sexist. What other reason could there be for saying it is one persons role to do something, other then sexism? How can a person make that declaration without embracing sexist logic?

I agree with Sazari here and I think the pivotal point of disagreement here is this:

Marriage is not the end result of two people who are in love.

Marriage is the merging of lives of two people who love each other. Love should not be the only consideration. For a marriage to be successful there must be love, mutual respect, compatibility, and shared goals.

That last bit is the crux of this issue. If a guy wants to build a family, there is nothing wrong with him seeking out a woman that both shares that goal and is capable and willing to fill the role necessary to achieve that goal.

Marriage is compromise. Having children is even more compromise. The best way to deal with this compromise is to plan ahead so that you can do what is natural for you and to find someone else who can compliment your role by doing something that is natural for them. That isn't sexism. Sexism is suggesting that men shouldn't respect and seek out women who want to fulfill a role different than the accepted "modern woman" role.
