Every creature on this planet is "beholden" to it's genetic coding. Even the mechanisms that humans use to reject our base urges, as you quantify them, is due to our genetic coding, namely our brain structure and specifically the frontal lobes, which are evolutionary speaking the junior member of the brain. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on the post-modernist bullshit which I see as intellectually bankrupt.

Yeah genetic defects increase with age...but the baseline is so low that an increase is kinda sorta insignificant to me. If your chances of a baby having Down's jumps from .65% to 1.3% per pregnancy I think the odds are still within reason to accept. The increase in miscarriage rates are slightly more significant, especially over 40, so it's just something to be aware of. I'm not sure the cavalier "yeah technology!" attitude of exploited is really productive, since it doesn't give hard stats for it. Trouble with conception and with miscarriages increases significantly as women get older, and they should be aware with that and consult with their OB accordingly. Feminist hand-wringing aside it's probably not the most responsible thing to wait until 35+ to try to conceive. Kinda hurting the odds there.
