Medius' 3 sentence clarification was well said.
Lapierre takes a bad perspective in that most pro gun people, all that I know of, argue that we arm ourselves to protect our spouses and loved ones.
Not to protect ourselves from them, except in extraordinary circumstances that occasionally happen.
But it is a poor argument and barely defensible in any way. and very poor timing on his part.
