The Way Forward: End Tax Expenditures

People are going to have children with or without taxes. Look at the breeding rate of impoverished nations and people. Prosperous nations have a lower birth rate. So if you want our country to have more kids, tax them into poverty.

I am perfectly fine with everyone paying taxes to support schools even if they don' t have kids. I am not okay with making someone pay an extra penalty for not procreating or not consuming the right products or not being heterosexual or whathaveyou.

the problem with actually implementing any reform of this type is that almost every one of those tax breaks or expenditures were put there by a group that has a significant financial interest in making sure they are never removed

and most of the big ones are ones that everyday people rely on (mortgage one, child tax credit one, etc) so any politician that proposes to do away with them is risking their career which i dont think most are willing to do
