Why would you give the Executive Branch the ability to raise the debt limit? That seems like the blurring of constitutional checks and balances. If a Republican thrusted us into war with some random country and needed more money to pay for it, I'm sure the left would have a fit if he simply could raise the debt limit and keep bombing away.

It seems like a bad idea no matter who is in charge.
