The richest, most powerful, most successful country in the history of mankind isn't going to allow it's old people to die because they can't afford heath care, or because they don't have a dime to their name.. So Medicare, AND ESPECIALLY SS is here to stay..

Fix it.. It's up to you younger people.. SS isn't going away, so just fix it.

Good point, Winchester--in that, for all the bitching about SS, medicare? Now THAT is a huge bleeping problem.

Which will never be solved until we decide to get serious about out-of-control medical costs in this country.

And to maintain the current, patchy as I understand it quality of service, thats going to have to increase a fair bit.

In terms of money spend, its what 25 Billion more costly than your absolutely massive and very well kitted out armed forces.

Again for a bit of comparison, consider the fact that standing armies were traditionally the most expensive enterprise any state could involve it's self in.



So, frankly, I find it hard to accept its simple or fixable. When the problem at hand is an increasing ratio of people withdrawing from the system to those paying into it.
