Well, that's what Democrats are right, and have been for years? They are the grow government party, and the Republicans USED to be the shrink government party. But now, we have the grow government party and grow government more party.

Libertarians are the only thing close to right, but even they are intellectually dishonest about the military and the nature and purpose of war. Meh, we're all going to hell. Might as well enjoy myself.

it's not a zero sum game. it's not "make it larger and larger and larger forever"

I'm sure there is a goal in mind for those on the left. I don't particularly care what it is, but rather how they're acheiving it (i.e. by violating rights). The right is the same these days. Same means, different goal.

i'm sure your rights are violated on a daily basis but you aren't going to live in a society where that doesn't happen ever. it's simply not possible with the level of complexity we have. if we could have developed complex societies with the freedoms of hunter-gatherers we would have.

And I think that's a false choice. I think it's possible, but not without a major change in human culture.

nothing to do with human nature. you can't have a society on the level we have today without a stabilizing force like government. if you'r advocating anarcho-primitivism then i think you're on to something but if you're advocating for what we have now with a toothless government and none of your "rights" ever violated then you're wishing for something that can't happen without science so incredible we would probably call it magic today.

I advocate a system of government where it is limited to defending the individual rights of its citizens against initiators of force. Nothing more. Nothing less. Such a system would only be possible with a society that understands what rights are. But we're no where close to that today, and I think we're moving away from it day by day.
