...So you know about Win8 right? That the desktop is actually an "app" and that the whole thing is built around a touch interface, and is pure fail? That the actual "desktop" looks more like this:



Its a joke. They are trying to move away from the traditional Windows OS completely, and go with this horrific new disaster called Metro. The start menu for example quite literally no longer even exists. The whole OS is designed as a way to get consumers hooked on Windows Apps, sold through the MS App Store. I'm running Win8 on one of my systems right now, and the suck is thick as walrus jizz in january.

I am earnestly and hopefully awaiting the wholesale rejection of Win8 by the business world, half of the consumer market, and a nice step up in OSX marketshare.

MS did way too good a job on Win7, and they are scared everyone is perfectly happy to keep using for a decade rather than upgrade to the next new thing they came up with, like what happened with XP.

That may be so, but MS is sucking in the device department. They refuse to become an OEM, producing their own line of computers, tablets, phones, etc etc, and instead want to play only in the software game, and for good reason. Samsung, Sony, Apple, etc...completely impossible for them to jump into that game and play at that level. And its too bad, as companies like HP have made the Windows PC into a dirt cheap commodity made with the cheapest components available, and the Windows brand has suffered as a result. Its not as though there is a huge way for MS to do integration with devices nobody even owns. How many actual humans have you met with a WP7 phone? Or a Zune, these days?

Point I was making is that Win8 is poised to be the very worst thing they've ever done, and they seem way too arrogant to see it.

Or maybe I'll be wrong and everyone else will love it. On tablets Metro actually makes a helluva lot of sense...so perhaps if they can somehow penetrate the tablet market with Metro, they can create a case for integration.
