Guns do indeed facilitate freedom. They are an insturment of freedom and the freedom to own guns facilitates freedom.
Just because you're outgunned does not mean you will lose.
It is most certainly the beginning of being able to stand up to today's militaries. The militaries don't seem to be that effective anyway. Look how long Afghanistan has gone on. And the Taliban don't have a whole lot more than firearms.
today's militaries just blow everything all to hell and I've seen no freedom come from any of it. They can do a pile of damage, but the survivors seem to be more motivated due to the damage and death.
If anything, those horrifically brutish militaries curtail freedom in the form of eternal war and debt.
