Emerald, guns have always been a part of American life. Hell, even in Britain it was common once upon a time for people to walk around armed with pistols, but gun rampages were almost unheard of. There is something else that is the problem here, and it is down largely to the various 'progressive' social policies that have plagued the west since at least the 1960s that have created a society where these kinds of crazies are created and tolerated until they do something like this, by which time it is too late. Instead of looking at guns, perhaps some of these policies need to be re-examined to get society back on the path back to a sanity and morality where citizens can once again be considered trustworthy enough to be able to have guns for their own self-protection.
