Should the Second Amendment be revisited?

Adolf Hitler and just about every other tyrant was all for disarming the population. Thats probably why the 2nd amnd was created, and will probably remain. Although they didn't know about Hitler at tha time, they seen enough to know the drill.

Not to mention the fact that the Iraq insurgents and the taliban employ a hell of a lot more than just guns. If people here honestly think the 2nd ammendment is still there to protect them from their own country's military, then... IDK, they're being tragically optimistic. And hilarious.

And all of these wars being discussed were outside actors. Using one's military against one's own population is a different beast entirely. Part of what makes our military effective is that nobody can come over here and screw with our supporting infrastructure. We can deploy reinforcements, mobilize, and supply at will with our massive MIC.

It is a bit different when taking out strategic points of your enemy is also taking out your own strategic points. Afghanistan is 30 million people, most of which don't even figure into the fight. The US is 300 million. There are an estimated 100,000 guns in Afghanistan, there are anywhere from 180 million to 300 million in the US.

We've discussed this before, and it was clearly demonstrated that the US military couldn't actually subdue the whole country. The biggest advantages, such as navy and air force, are at a huge strategic disadvantage.

With most of the population being urbanized, it'll be impossible to not cause huge casualties, or blue on blue incidents. Infrastructure will crumble, stores of supplies will be disrupted. And you have to actually turn the military against the US people. Not an easy task.

The US military is under 5 million. Let's say they go against 1/6th of the population. Reasonable right? If this is a serious revolution.

That's still 50 million people. Hell, even if it was 20 million there's just no way for the US military to fight that at home.

I don't think you guys realize how reliant we are on military contractors either.
