I'm not sure why deeply spiritual people who follow specific faiths find any allegiance with the term "religion". It's by and large a pejorative nowadays, and also in light of the fact that spirituality is the true descriptor for faith.
I have the deepest respect for people of every widely-encompassing faith, but I will fight the term religion at every term, because for me, and for a growing number of people, it represents cult-like behavior and draconian social policy.
