I hear ya eynon. but this kid was likely very dependent and may have had attachment problems.

How were the mom's actions reckless? Adam was having problems at school so she pulled him out. He was still having problems so she was preparing to get him in an asylum. If anything she was pretty responsible.

There was no evidence of him being dangerous prior to this so all your speculations are based on hindsight after the fact.

No, you're right. Everybody who belongs in an asylum should have access to lots and lots of weapons. In fact, there should be arsenals available at all mental health facities.
