well we don't know the facts but from what i've read she seems to have been looking to have him institutionalized which was the ultimate reason for his rampage. and if that's true, i agree with dylan completely that it was reckless to allow him access to any type of weapon. if she felt she couldn't handle him on her own, that meant he was out of control... you lock that away. still, perhaps he was never violent before or hinted at it, so why would she suspect? maybe she wanted him institutionalized because she couldn't devote all her time to him and he needed attention for other reasons other than violent tendencies. don't know at this point (and maybe never will)
