We know major cities everywhere in the US were pretty bad in the 80s and that they were all doing better by the mid-to-late 90s. We could believe the unlikely theory that they each coincidentally decided to clean themselves up simultaneously, or we could look for national trends that decreased the crime rate everywhere.

What they did was enforce the law. Nothing more complicated than that.
A lesson that a well known four lettered street in Manhattan could use a healthy does of.

My theory is the first missing generation of poorly raised teens following Roe v. Wade was a big factor in it.

Abortions always happened. Some in the back alley, some people went to other states. Abortion wasn't illegal nationwide.
