If you uphold your end of the social contract your only reward will be moral superiority. But what good is that if you never get to do what you want while those who don't believe at all in the rules put forth by the social contract get access to whatever they want from society? Wealth, power, fame, women all go to the so-called "sociopathic" individual who isn't afraid to break the rules society puts forth to govern behavior.
In that case I have to call the one who plays by the rules a chump, a sucker, and a loser. Why should the individual accept such an agreement? Most don't, but because of the oppressive nature of our social order they have to sublimate their resistance to the demands made by society. This explains the plethora of social ills and mental illness that plague the human race. It also explains why voter turnout is so low and apathy is so high.
Everybody knows.
Work hard, follow the rules, go to college and all you will get for your trouble is a foreclosure on your home.
