The only compromise being demanded is a compromise of rights, alluding to a confiscation of property.
The only solution being offered or being bandied about is to punish the law abiding.
Which is not a solution, but an attempt to criminalise a law abiding sector of the population.
In no way does any of that do anything about solving one tiny thing.
It's just another attack on another soft target.

Perhaps the antis can come up with what sort of action, what sort of law they want that will be aimed at the criminals, instead of aiming directly at the law abiding.
How do you intend to stop the criminals? It's very easy to stop the law abiding, but it serves no purpose. You won't punish or impede criminals by punishing the law abiding.
