This is a thread on what happens next re the FISCAL CLIFF OF DEATHMAGEDDON!



Kane's thoughts:

We go over the cliff.
New members of house and senate are put in place on Thursday.
Republicans reframe debate (As they have been) to one of lowering taxes (HUZZAH!)
Taxes are lowered for most Americans
Unemployment Benefits are extended once more

We wait until March for sh*t to hit the fan regarding the debt ceiling unless they get a comprehensive reform package through before then.

I agree with the taxes and UE. Been saying it for a while it would take January 1st to happen.

What about sequester? Do they just kick it down the road two years?

And what about the payroll tax holiday? I've long abandoned a "grand bargain" and thus no jobs bill. le sigh.

there's no negotiation to be had. The GOP doesn't want a deal. It doesn't want to cut spending and lose their seats compromising.

There is a very specific reason why the GOP has proposed virtually zero actual spending cuts. That reason being they don't want to cut spending and don't want to be on record for wanting to cut benefits to anyone, especially the elderly or soon to be elderly.

They just want Obama to keep "compromising" so they can get him on record wanting to cut benefits.



This is all they have.

Obama shouldn't negotiate with these clowns any more. They're not responsible enough. just pass the damn tax cuts and delay the sequester until some adults get elected.
