Define "elite."

Because the entire TPM/current GOP certainly portrays itself as "populist" yet serves only the elite: the richest elite.

If by elite you mean educated, that's interesting too because the candidates being put forth by the GOP of late are completely anti-math, anti-science, anti-education... which is why educated people aren't voting for them.

Anybody hear about how Asians went overwhelmingly for Obama over Romney? The take was that they grew up in cultures that highly value things like education, science and math so of course they're going to run away from people who attack education and wave Bibles around saying that we should teach creationism in schools and that women have anti-rape-sperm cannons inside them to protect them from "legitimate" rape.

I imagine a world where electors (for the electoral college) are voted for six months before election day. We'd vote for them. They'd be lawyers, teachers, police officers, moms, college grads, professors, etc. And then candidates would sit in a room with these people and these people would grill them, ask them questions, discuss policy, philosophy, goals, direction, etc. It would be those people that would decide who was president, not mouth-breathers like in the cube next to me right now.
