I dont actually think that was his intention. Reading the article he seems to suggest honoring the constitution has been a pretty vague concept at times, and in doing that the US has not met with destruction

It seems laughably out of touch with reality for someone to think the problem in this country is that we are obsessed with following the constitution too closely. lol Clearly the problem is that we have in no way lived up to the great principles enshrined in that document and have violated them with one hypocritical and self serving legal ruling after another.
What he really means to say is that respecting the rights of individuals is a nuisance when it comes to the state doing whatever it wants to do, which is quite a dangerous idea.
