It doesn't look as pretty, but i fail to see what makes practically or functionally impossible. There certainly seem to be plenty of cases historical and anecdotal of people you are in effect like these stranded dots.
Furthermore, your analogy only really works if there is only in effect one dimension. If there's more than one and shapes can also be multidimensional then geometrical solutions are possible probably on an infinite number of sequences of dot positions.
I saw this, for example, as your way of thinking her works, only if you are comparing very limited value systems that are entirely contradictory.
