What I mean is, what would prevent me from going and cultivating wheat. Then, through shrewd trades and barters, I end up controlling the majority of wheat produced in the US. At that point, I decide to create and artificial shortage by stifling production, thereby raising "prices". Now, instead of trading me 1 helicopter for a truckload of bread, I get 2 helos. And, i become richer at the expense of other people.
I understand that I could raise up all of humanity by increasing production and giving it away, and that I might benefit slightly by doing so. But, I can benefit far more, and far quicker, by doing it my way.
