The public is meeting on an internet political forum and discussing alternatives. That means it is becoming obsolete.

It is already quite clear that the theory is intellectually insupportable.

That one doesn't fly either.

People have been talking about cold fusion for a very long time, but coal generated electricity is not obsolete or in danger of becoming obsolete.

there are many examples that prove the opposite of that theory.

Did slavery become obsolete?

Did prostituion become obsolete.

Rights are as relevant today as they were 2000 years ago and as they will be 2000 years from now.

Slavery is obsolete. You have to feed, clothe, and give medical care to slaves, they are expensive property to maintain. It is cheaper and easier to tell your force labor they are free and then psychologically manipulate the shit out them to drain them. That's the American Way®

The fact that those primitive injustices still exist quite commonly is a testament to how well the concept of "rights" has actually worked in the real world.

I don't think rights as we currently understand them are at all relevant.

That is why they immediately fell apart when our society came under attack, and why in every "rights-based" nation in the world, the government is allowed to detain you indefinitely without charge.

Suggesting that the theory needs to be revamped does not equal supporting government control of your life. It just acknowledges the inherent weaknesses of the theory, weaknesses that have really come to the forefront, as people confront the fact that we are actually a collectivized species due to our social nature. The myth of the individual is just that: a myth.

The theory of rights isn't meant to explain human behavior.
