It just seems people are desparately trying to fit this particular crime into the violent category, and I don't understand why. Why are they trying to skew the facts? The kid did nothing wrong, though I wish he chose another option that's available to him and I am sooo happy this perp didn't die (I'm also considering the mental impact of the child, something the wild-west people don't seem to care about or something).
Someone breaking into your house is traumatizing, and it is going to be a long, long time before these two kids feel safe at home (if at all, sadly). Thank God they also don't have to deal with the lifelong scar of killing another human as well (provided they aren't sociopaths, which I am assuming they aren't).
