social security needs reforms, but it doesn't have to go away. it should really be going after it's original purpose though. life expectancy to get to 65 in 1940 was about half of the population and if you made it that far you might expect a dozen more years. today something like 80% of the population gets that high and if you do, expect to live 20 more years
what it should be changed to is something like 75 because then you go back to what this was covering. last dozen years of life, and for less people. it's a safety net not a retirement plan
