You both are assuming that the American people would make the jump to that conclusion.

Seeing that the FOX/Drudge/Limbaugh/Hannity axis pumped this story endlessly leading into the election, clearly they did not.

So in that scenario the White House went into a cover-up mode to prevent a scandal they completely misjudged would result, or: this was a politically-motivated "scandal" created by outrage pimps who never seemed to have a problem with not only AQ running loose but OBL himself... when somebody else was president.

Where were they "continually pushing the idea it was the protest?" And why would people change their vote in swing states?

I vehemently disagree with this idea that the campaign would've been hurt if they said al Qaeda on September 12th.

I don't know anybody who would jump to that conclusion so I can't get on board with your assertion that "enough" Americans would to merit a cover-up.

In fact, obsessing over this and trying to make it the "issue" just shows how lost the party is--if you remember the #1 issue was (and still is) the economy. That is why Romney lost, among other things. He was painted as a rich, out-of-touch plutocrat who didn't care about 47% of the country.

Why anybody thought making... I mean, LOL... Benghazi the centerpiece of a right wing offensive--that person should hosed down the street into a river. Maybe it was Dick Morris.

You also have to understand that Americans at this point are getting a little fatigued with... terrorism. Which is another reason this issue never got any traction. Especially when that terrorism occurred thousands of miles away.

If you want a jolly good time look up how many embassy attacks after 9/11 occurred and how many hearings/calls for investigations were directed at say, Condi Rice (who was also National Security Director when... 9/11 happened) by these same people going after Hillary Clinton.
