Sandman. I'm a US Navy air traffic controller, originally from Austin, TX. I was "d_the_sandman" on the original PCF, and was pretty active there for a few years, even becoming the "Radical HQ" leader for a short time. Looking back, I was young (19-20) and pretty uneducated at that point in time, still living in the projects in South Austin and, believe it or not, still having my very first early experiences with the internet. I probably didn't make myself sound too smart on PCF in those days, lol, but the site helped me a lot to form some coherent political views later in life, and I remember a lot of folks from there fondly (Perp, Jawsome, Jimmyz, Cap'n, etc etc). Since then I got married, had 4 kids and joined the Navy, not necessarily in that order. Last year, I stumbled upon the Political Panic site by accident, saw it was basically PCF 2.0, and signed up. I think I posted a few times then disappeared. Then I got deployed to Afghanistan for 10 months, working with the Army and Marines in detainee operations. If you saw all the news about the quran burning incident, that was us (not me specifically, but my unit). We had some limited access to the internet out there, not much free time, but I did manage to post to PP every once in a while.

That's pretty much it. Just got back to the states a few months ago, back to doing the best job in the world (IMHO). I have a little more free time than I did in Afghanistan, not to mention much faster and more reliable internet access, lol, so I might be a fairly frequent presence on here.

The best thing I remember about the Radical HQ was just that it was actually active. Shortly before the site went down for good, I joined the libertarian HQ, and man it was night and day. WEEKS went by without a new post in that one.
