I don't get the logic behind austerity being a cure for financial crises.
It's the exact opposite of what is needed to inject lifeblood into any system on the edge. Letting a financial system to fester and dry up without any stimulation to investment and employment and public work projects will only cause more misery. It's not even good for creditors.
