Philosophically speaking I'm not certain "conservatism" ever had a mind: theres no there there. As pitched it is (or was) a movement within liberalism. However, at present it appears to be nearly completely untethered from the basic philosophical foundation (individual/government). I suspect that the conservatism movement simply was (and is) a facade for pragmatism.
