I don't argue that your view certainly leads to a society that I'd prefer over this one. However, I don't want to start that change, nor do I want to be on the road to that place. I just want to be there.

But, in the absence of that, I'm not so worried about those people under bridges benefiting or being wasted potential. So long as me, my kids, my family, most of my friends, and a few others are benefiting, that's about all I want.

Let me spell something else out here. When we decide that we do nothing about poor people, that = more and more poor people because we've condemned them.

And guess what more and more poverty means? Um, that's going to mean more and more crime.

It's at that point that the same people who don't want to do anything about poverty will start demanding protection from all the crime that's now out there.

Round and round we go, Jack. I mean, is it really that difficult to see causes and effects in this country?
