Let me backtrack a bit here. My position isn't quite "absolute".

I am all for spending more on education and things to help people out. And, I think that having an absolute "you get what you pay for" health system is a bad idea.

I agree that, here in America, the more poor we have the more crime we have. I also agree that poor begets poor. Therefore, I don't mind helping out a bit. Simply because helping them out will eventually help me and those I care about.

However, the crime rate in India is of very little concern to me. Neither is the poverty rate. And the problems in Algeria are REALLY not high on my list.

I am not going to respond to a massive laundry list of issues. I will point out the ones I think are important.

gun rights - I believe the 2nd Amendment was meant to ensure that disarming the people would never happen as the founders intended. I will, however, agree that more needs to be done to ensure violent criminals don't have access to them without infringing on the rights of everyone else. Banning "assault" weapons is ridiculous because it punishes everyone for the actions of only a few.
abortion - I believe a woman should not be prevented from having an abortion however I don't believe that taxpayers should pay for it. I will say that women that use it as birth control have zero respect from me.
taxes - I like uebermann's idea. Taxing transactions would simplify the tax code. No loopholes. Plus it could possibly keep banks in check.
war on drugs - should go back to the states to decide. The war will never be won and only continues to drain the economy.
military - maintain air and sea superiority. This to me is crucial. Streamline ground forces to handle current threats.
unions - get rid of all public service unions. Private unions are up to the members to maintain if the members so freely desire.
federal reserve - needs more transparency and oversight.
gay marriage - I don't give a shit if two people of the same gender want to get married as long as it doesn't impact my rights.
