I am not going to disagree with you guys. It does appear that there's a growing trend to get rid of photo ticketing because it's either not being enforced or clearly a means of revenue generation, in the guise of public safety, which is upsetting a lot of people.
My only point is what the lawyer said. He didn't single out photo ticketing in his response. He clearly said that the USPS was immune from state and local ordinances imposing fines and/or penalties and there is no statutory basis for doing so.
In other words, because the federal government didn't create a law saying that the federal government is required to abide by state/local ordinances that gives them immunity from them. At least that's the way I read it but maybe I'm wrong.
I realize I'm delving into the long time argument of legal powers between the federal government vs. states/municipalities and that is a monstrous debate subject that's probably been going on for decades.
