get rid of it. as for private companies not going to rural areas...can you blame them? we should do away with rural areas while we are at it! just kidding, but i think that would work itself out some way.

In 20-25 years it will work itself out.. Right now? No..

Not everyone does business wirelessly, or over the net, etc.. And if the net sites, banks sites, credit cards sites, etc. keep getting hacked and people keep getting their identities compromised it may never be the 100% substitute for doing business via snail mail.

Small communities can create their own postal service. They shouldn't have to justify a multi-billion dollar pool of red ink with taxpayers on the hook.

The Dude, twice now you have stated the GOP is responsible for the pension program in 2006. Do you have a link? Just want to make sure we place the blame where it belongs is all.

How many Democrats voted against it? Never mind I just checked and the House did a voice vote and it was unanimously passed in the Senate.

I just want to make the point that all the blame can't be placed on the GOP unless it is clear there was substantial opposition on the other side is all. Based on what I read, there was no opposition worth even mentioning.

All of Congress is to blame for this, not the GOP itself.

There was no recorded vote in the Senate. It just went through via unanimous consent which is different than unanimous vote.

The GOP changed the original bill from 2005 in the lame duck session in 2006. They changed it in less than 48 hours for the part of the pensions and it seems the Democrats, knowing their reign was coming, simply got duped not understanding what the impact of that portion of revised bill would do.

So yes, you can blame all of Congress, but the GOP put this poison pill into the bill knowing what it would do and the Dems seemed to have been oblivious.
