George Will: Break Up the TBTF Banks

While I'm not a big advocate on government interference in business, I am going to agree with you Indy. Anytime any business is TBTF, it's time to change that and the only way is to break them up. It worked for Ma Bell and it can work now if done right.

I agree, the banks shouldn't be allowed to get so big that them dissolving would crater the economy. Can't build systemic risk like this into it.

I 100% agree, but the Republicans in Washington will never allow it.. And hell most of the Democrats wouldn't do it either..

In other words, it's not going to happen. Too much money is involved, and the TBTF banks lobbys are too big and powerful.. Add that to the fact most Americans have no idea what TBTF is, or means, or how Wall Street is screwing them, so there's no incentive for either Party to do anything.

yeah, this is one issue where both parties are too blame equally. Neither side will push for it other than maybe Warren. The amount of money in all these guys' coffers is astounding.

This is true. Like you said, maybe save for Warren and Bernie Sanders.

Then when the next meltdown happens and we're thrown into a great depression, everyone will stand around and say... repeat after me... "Nobody could have imagined!"
