George Will: Break Up the TBTF Banks

There's no doubt in my mind Obama and the Dems were never going to break up the big banks either, BUT the biggest reason Dodd-Frank doesn't have much teeth is because the GOP did all they could to protect the big banks and make Dodd-Frank toothless. If the GOP even cared a little bit about the Middle Class and protecting the MC after 2008 they would have got on-board and helped push through a few basic reforms..

But nope, they kept fighting for the banks, and the Dems really don't want to step on the banks toes either. So we got nothing.

The other thing you should take note of is the efforts to strangle the CFPB--another bald-faced attempt by legislators in the pocket of the banking industry to stick to American citizens in return for banking cash.

On a different note, it's encouraging to see so many at this forum engaged in the banking/Wall St. issue and that realize its implications. It certainly wasn't like that at my previous two forums.

How to mobilize the masses, though? Still can't figure it out.

The masses don't understand or care about WS except when their 401k's go up or down..

And that's not going to change. It's hard to care about something you don't understand.

In most countries that's cause for revolution.

Nothing is going to change, failure will be propped up to the bitter end. Kinda like the top shelf Hostess exec's getting their million dollar atta boy bonus's as their 100 year old company slipped beneath the waves. I just call it gut n run.

Excellent choice of phrase; I've traditionally used "smash n' grab" but yours is more descriptive.
