This story started here in Ireland and everyone is freaking out about it. The agricultural minister was delighted it turned out to be a European-wide problem as he wouldn't get the blame for it. Agriculturial issues are taken very seriously here: cf BSE, foot & mouth, etc.
Horse isn't bad at all. I ate it in France and in Chile they have a sort of horse jerky which is quite nice. Like most peole I occasionally eat processed burgers so no doubt have inadvertently eaten horse.
