That's the sad part. I can't remember. I was 20 years old, totally not into politics, and so in awe that I don't remember 99% of the meeting.
I remember that he was a really down-to-earth guy. He wore a suit and cowboy boots, with a big "GHWB" emblazoned in red on the boot shank.
Then, at the end, of the meeting, he handed my dad a little box (it contained cufflinks with the Presidential seal and GHWBs signature engraved on the back). Then he handed my mom one (lapel in of the same). Then, and I was about 10 feet away, he said, "And, here you go son - one for you." and proceeded to toss me a box across his desk. I don't know why, but it still impresses me that a former President tossed me something in his office.
