That is who CPAC chooses every year as their favourite. Sounds like the GOP has changed quite a bit, assuming CPAC is reflective of their desires, rather than the GOP platform.

CPAC represents the wingnut faction of the GOP. Currently, this faction has undue influence on the GOP as a whole, because of an interesting side effect of the gerrymandering that allows the GOP to keep their House majority. You see, while these districts are largely safe from challenges from the left, they are vulnerable to primary challenges from the right. This is one of the main reasons they GOP is dysfunctional.
