Yep, get rid if minimum wage. If you want to help the poor, implement social programs like Universal Health Care where the poor gets the benefit of the service. Minimum wage is just an accounting game if it's just a figure. If you want to make it an effective transfer of wealth from high to low, then it should be a percentage of per capita GDP, not just a dollar figure.
Sigmund Freud defined four parts of a psyche; the id, the ego, the superego and the stratego. The Stratego being the highest form of morality and scientific thinking.

Minimum wage is the least invasive option. The German model is based around legally-mandated agreements between workers and corporations in virtually every sector of the economy, and the Singapore model is based around the government becoming partial owner of the largest organizations and swaying the markets in whatever direction it decides.

It just blows my mind that in a country where a shockingly tiny percentage of the people control an obscenely disproportionate percentage of the country's wealth, people will bitch and moan about mandating that people make $7.25 an hour? Good God...
